March 9: Whale Watching Tour

This whale watching excursion is not only seeing whales as unique experience but also a trip by boat for a nice change from the tours operated on land.

Hotel pick up starts 45 minutes before the tour and a shuttle will take you to the harbour where you will board. Here you can get a winter overall if you feel cold or just want to be safe. If you still feel cold you can have a coffee or even something stronger to warm you up for the tour. The boat is equipped with all necessary facilities to make your trip comfortable. So you can also choose if you want to sit inside or outside.

The ship then leaves and you will see the Faxafloi bay in which Reykjavik is located. Do not forget to look around and look at Reykjavik from the sea. Your captain will use modern technology and his experience to find the whales. Certain birds for example fly over areas where they find certain fish which are eaten by the whales. Because of this, the birds can lead the way. Meanwhile your guide will not only be on the watch-out for you and with you but also tell you more about the animals you encounter. The most common animals you may encounter are Minke whales, Humpback whales, Dolphins and Porpoises and sometimes others.

Sometimes the weather changes the plan and we may take you to another harbour to sail from, in this case the tour may take up to 5 hours.

Duration: 3-5 hrs

Departure time: 13:00 – hotel pick up is up to 45 min before departure
